COUNCIL
Norristown is governed by Municipal Council which consists of seven members representing each of the voting wards in the Municipality. There are four districts and three at large seats. Council directs the activities of the Municipality through the appointed Municipal Manager, who in turn supervises all departments. As of January, 2006 Norristown will no longer have a Mayor's position. The Municipality is now a strong council form of government. All serve four year terms, and are eligible for reelection twice. On the first Monday of January in each even numbered year, Municipal Council conducts a reorganization meeting where they elect a President and Vice President of Council. Council meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month. All members of council are part-time. For agenda or copies of the Home Rule Charter please call (610) 272-8080.
