Municipal Council

Norristown is governed by a Municipal Council which consists of seven members representing each of the voting districts in the Municipality. There are four districts and three at large seats. The Council directs the activities of the Municipality through the appointed Municipal Manager, who in turn supervises all departments.

All council members serve four-year terms, and are eligible for reelection twice. On the first Monday of January in each even numbered year, the Municipal Council conducts a reorganization meeting where they elect a President and Vice President of Council. The Council meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month. All members of council are part-time. The agenda is posted here 72 hours prior to the meetings.
