Sonya D. (Fisher) Sanders - Council 1st District

Sonya D. (Fisher) Sanders is a Norristown native who was born and raised on the 500 block of East Moore Street. She is a graduate of Norristown Area High School. Ms. Sanders has an Associate degree in Business Administration and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

Sonya works for a financial investment company where she has been employed for over 21 years. She is happily married to Charles Sanders and has two daughters and a son.

As a resident of Norristown, Ms. Sanders is passionate about improving the youth involvement and safety, which is one of the reasons she ran for council. Over the years, she has served as a volunteer coach with Greater Norristown PAL basketball league, Plymouth Jr. ABA and Plymouth Jr. ABA Travel All-Star Team. As a Board Member of Plymouth Jr. ABA, she currently serves as a Commissioner of the Senior League. She is co-founder of the newly developed Generation Next Track Club in Norristown.

As a member of Real Charitable Housewives of Chester County SE she enjoys volunteering her time, which involves cleaning parks, packing military stockings and serving holiday meals. She thoroughly enjoys serving in the soup kitchen at the local churches in Norristown and assisting the elderly in various activities.

Lastly, Sonya enjoys participating in junior achievement, which has allowed her to teach at various elementary schools in the Norristown community for the past eight years.
