NORRISTOWN, PA -- Some cool things are happening at the Norristown Public Library

All children's programs are first come and first served, unless noted otherwise, libarians remind the public. 

The library suggests you arrive early to guarantee admission. Doors will close and a sign will be posted on the door to the Children’s Learning Center when maximum capacity for each program has been reached. Programs begin on time:

MontCo Comic Fest 2018

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library kicks off celebration of National Library Week on Saturday, April 7th (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM) with its third annual Mont Co Comic Fest!

Come join the library in a celebration of pop culture and fandom of all kinds. Take a walk through our Artist’s Alley, participate in workshops and panel discussions, challenge your friends in our Gaming Room or check out the special programming we have just for kids!

On top of all that, we have partnered with the Norristown Area School District to sponsor a graphic novel contest for Norristown area middle and high school students. These entries will be on display at the library from now until Comic Fest on April 7th, so make sure to come on in to the library and vote on your favorites for the Public Choice Award!


Adult Programs

Find Your Center with Free Hatha Yoga

Most Friday afternoons 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Enjoy beginners' Hatha Yoga! Learn the basic poses and alignments of this ancient and popular practice! No experience needed. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.  

Library Volunteer Ash Aragam, a certified Yoga instructor, will conduct the sessions. Yoga mats are provided, but patrons are encouraged to bring their own if they have one. 

Patrons can join Ash from 4 PM to 5 PM on most Friday afternoons. (No session Friday April 13th.) Call or visit the Computer Lab for updated information, (610)-278-5100, ext. 141. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Register with the ComputerLab

Knitting & Fiber Crafts Club

Love to knit, crochet, quilt or sew? Meet like-minded folks in our friendly club! Learn a new technique, or share your skills with others.

The Knitting & Fiber Crafts Club meets the first Saturday of each month. Bring a project to work on, or even a completed project to share. We welcome all skill levels, but note that this is not a class. Please bring your own supplies and tools.The Knitting & Fiber Crafts Club usually meets the first Saturday of each month, but this time we’re meeting on March 31 because we can’t meet on April 7.

Mystery Tuesdays Book Club

Many seniors are concerned about leaving loose ends for their loved ones upon their passing. This workshop provides participants with local resources and information on dealing with taxes and unpaid debts, creating a simple will, and setting expectations with family members without discord.

One-on-one Filing Help

Trained staff from the Visiting Nurse Association will guide you through completing your Property Tax/Rent Rebate form. This program is by appointment only. We will let you know what you need to bring when we schedule your appointment. Half-hour appointments will be available on the afternoon of Thursday, April 26.

NASD Art Gallery Night

RESCHEDULED FROM MARCH 20. Norristown area students display their fabulous art creations in the Children’s Department. Musical entertainment provided by a combined middle school/high school jazz band. Light refreshments will be served. All ages. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

MONTCO Comic Fest

Fun for comic fans of all ages! Special activities for kids include: Read to a Superhero Therapy Dog from 11-1, Writing a Great Comic workshop at 11:00, and Creative Cartooning at 1:00, plus crafts, special guests, and other fun activities. For all ages. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

One Book, Every Young Child

April 10-12

At every children’s program this week, we will be sharing the book, My Cousin Momo by Zachariah O’Hora, and each family attending will receive a free copy to take home! Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child is an established program that highlights the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers and the significance of reading early and often to children.
