Norristown Municipality Releases 2016 Audit Report
NORRISTOWN, PA – The Municipality of Norristown announced today the completion of the 2016 Financial Statement Audit Report. The report demonstrates that the Municipality is in compliance with regulatory agencies and stands on solid ground financially.
Each year, the Norristown Finance Office compiles and releases the Municipality’s Financial Audit Report. This report is a snapshot of the overall financial position that provides a comprehensive overview of the organizations finances, assets, and liabilities, as well as critical insight of the long-term fiscal outlook.
Audits provide assurance that financial information is reliable and demonstrates to constituents that government functions are carried out ethically and efficiently. Norristown received an unqualified opinion for this year’s audit from Maillie Certified Public Accountants and Business Consultants of Oaks, PA.
The financial performance of the Municipality has been exceptional in large part because of the work of the Municipal Council and administration working collaboratively towards maintaining transparency and accountability.
According to Crandall Jones, Municipal Administrator, “I am very appreciative of the dedication and leadership of Finance Director, Chenora Burkett, and the entire management team. Their efforts have led us through another successful, on-time audit process, as we continue to manage the municipal government in a fiscally responsible manner.”
