PA American Line Upgrades
PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER TO KICK OFF $400,000 WATER LINE UPGRADE IN NORRISTOWN
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (December 4, 2017) – Pennsylvania American Water today reported that additional water main replacement projects are starting in Norristown to improve service reliability, prevent water outages and enhance fire protection. The projects, with a combined cost of approximately $400,000, will replace aging pipe dating back to the 1900s.
Starting this week, crews will install nearly 600 feet of new eight-inch ductile iron main along
Walnut Street between Main and Airy Streets. In addition, the company will replace approximately 1,000 feet of water main along Penn Street between Markley and Cherry Streets. The company expects to complete the new main installation, testing and disinfection, and connecting customers’ service lines by the end of December. Weather permitting, final paving restoration will take place by end of December. If not, final paving will be completed next spring.
Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction hours, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes. During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
These Norristown system improvements follow water main projects started last week on Haws Avenue and Jacoby Street, in addition to upgrades earlier this year along Norma Lane, Hamilton Street and Tyler Street.
