Lafayette Street Extension Project


 

road restrictions

Lafayette Street will be closed between Dekalb Street and Franklin Street beginning Monday, June 4th through mid-September 2018. Access to local traffic will be maintained and westbound traffic will have access between Mill street and Dekalb Street. East Washington Street between Dekalb and Ford Street is an option for eastbound traffic to avoid the closure.

OVERVIEW 

Lafayette Street

The Lafayette Street Extension Project is an effort to improve highway access and mobility into downtown Norristown and Plymouth Township. This project is being headed by the Montgomery County Planning Commission in association with PennDOT, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the PA Turnpike Commission. On July 31, 2018 Plymouth Ambulance and Norristown Fire Department conducted joint UTV training. Members from both Departments trained on incline ascents and descents, winch use for evacuation and overall UTV safety and operations.
