MUNICIPALITY OF NORRISTOWN
SPECIAL MEETING

There will be a special meeting of the Municipal Council on Wednesday, November 16, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of Norristown Municipal Hall (235 E. Airy Street, Norristown). The Municipal Council will discuss status their and departmental 2016 goals. No action will take place during the meeting.

Smoke Detector Blitz

November 19, 2016, fire department personnel and American Red Cross personnel will be partnering to conduct a multi-block smoke detector blitz in the 300,400,500,600,700,800,900,1000,1100,1200, & 1300 blocks of Arch Street

Selma Mansion Paranormal Day

Selma Mansion's Paranormal Day will feature all sorts of vendors and presenters in the realm of the paranormal.

Admission tickets at the door: Lectures will run from approximately 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. and are included with admission. $10 for all those above the age of 12, $5 for children (ages 5-12), seniors /veterans, and FREE for kids under 5, Norristown PD and Fire Dept personnel and active military. All proceeds from admission goes to the Norristown Preservation Society for the restoration and upkeep of Selma Mansion.

For an extra $10 you can participate in a public gallery psychic reading. To pre-order a seat to the reading, go to http://wew.IvyRiveraPsychicMedium.com (Tickets will also be available at Selma Mansion on the day of the event)

After Dark Paranormal Investigation at Selma Mansion

If you're brave enough, you can hang out with the Pennsylvania Underground Paranomal Society as they investigate ghosts at Selma Mansion with all their cool ghost hunting equipment into the wee hours of the morning).

Elmwood Park Zoo - Free Admission Norristown Residents

Free Admission for Norristown Residents


Elmwood Park Zoo extends gratitude to loyal Norristown residents by offering FREE admission to Norristown residents on the first Sunday of each month beginning at 2 PM.

Residents of Norristown that present valid photo I.D. may enter the Zoo free of charge after 2 PM on the following dates:

Sunday, November 6
Sunday, December 4

Adults must show photo I.D. as proof of residency. Children must be accompanied by a Borough resident. Non-residents will be charged normal admission rates. Borough residents are defined by living within the following four boundaries:
east of Forrest Avenue
south of Johnson Highway
west of Sandy Hill Road/E Fornance Street
north of the Schuylkill River

Historical Society of Montgomery County Annual Luncheon

The Historical Society of Montgomery County will host its Annual Luncheon on November 12, 2016, 12:00-3:00 p.m., at the William Penn Inn.
This year’s featured speaker will be Wes Cowan, a frequent personality seen on the television shows Antiques Roadshow and History Detectives.
This event is open to members and non-members of the Historical Society of Montgomery County. Tickets to this year’s luncheon are $60.00 per person. Limited seating is available so purchase your tickets early!

Norristown Riverfront Community meeting

November meeting of the NRFC, which is a group of citizens working to improve Riverfront Park and recreational opportunities along Norristown's riverfront. At this meeting we'll start planning projects to be done in the spring. Anyone who's interested is welcome to join us.

➢ 16-11-01 – 310 East Basin Street – HARB Zone B - Application received to replace front entry door, remove and replace windows, install new gutter and downspouts. The front porch support beam will be replace along with eliminating structurally defective parapet and install a new porch roof. Municipal Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program.
➢ 16- 11-02 – 547 Barbadoes Street – HARB Zone A – Application received to demolish dilapidated porch roof and remove deteriorated wood porch siding. Re-sheath exterior wall and install vinyl siding. Replace windows on side of building and install capping.
