Impact Thrift Stores Announces Grand Reopening at New Space in Norristown Centre

Impact Thrift Stores will hold a Grand Reopening celebration for its new Norristown store location on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Festivities will include prizes, refreshments, entertainment and merchandise discounts.

The new Norristown Impact Thrift Store will offer a 30 percent discount to customers on all items storewide on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The first 100 people in line before the doors open will receive a $10 gift card for any Impact Thrift Stores location. Participants who visit the store between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. will be invited to enter into a drawing to win a $25 gift card which will be awarded hourly. Also, a grand prize winner will be pulled from the drawing.

The winner will receive a 2.5-minute clothing shopping spree (up to a $250 value) at the Norristown Impact Thrift Store, to be held on a later date.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free snacks donated by Hatfield Quality Meats and Derstine’s Foodservice will be provided (while supplies last).

Local partner charities ALCAMO Family Centers and the Montgomery County Opportunities Industrialization Center, both located in Norristown, will receive 10 percent of the day’s net proceeds.

OBSERVING HANCOCK: A Walking Tour of Historic Montgomery Cemetery & Presentation

This event features a walking tour of Historic Montgomery Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with stops that highlight the life of General Hancock. The walking tour will be followed by light refreshments in the Cemetery's gatehouse with a presentation by historian and author Paul E. Bretzger at 12:00 p.m. Patricipants will receive a signed softcover copy of Bretzger's book "Observing Hancock at Gettysburg The General's Leadership through Eyewitness Accounts."

All Star Stories

Mondays-Make summer reading fun! We’ll read a story that you can count toward your school (and library) summer reading requirement, then do some cool activities related to the book—crafts, experiments, games, and more! For kids entering K-2nd grades. Class limited to 20. Drop in. (No class July 4.)

Summer Fun Ideas

Join us each week for some summer fun! Come explore new interests with activities like art, music, nature, swimming and sports. Themes, field trips and special events make it a different adventure each week.

We offer specialty programs such as Bulls Eye - learn the ins and outs of archery. Dance Camp - learn new fun and creative dance techniques. Healthy Chef focuses on new culinary concepts while creating some yummy healthy treats and LEGO Creations challenges Master Builders to build as far as their imaginations can go.

Care provided Monday - Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm.

We accept CCIS and Financial Assistance is available.

Norristown National Night Out

Join us in promoting neighborhood spirit with community partnership, law enforcement and residents for a safer Norristown. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT Norristown will be held on the 1300 Block of Willow Street, live music, food, give-aways, games and much more starting a 5:30pm. Norristown Council, Norristown Fire Department, Norristown Police Chief Mark Talbot and officers along with numerous community organizations will be there to share information.

National Night Out Day is observed annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is a community-police awareness-raising event.
Created to increase awareness about police programs in our communities.

Fun with stories, songs and movement for the older toddler and preschool child. Ages 3-1/2 -5 years with a caregiver. Drop in.

Are you super creative? Come in for some spectacular crafts, including string art, t-shirt crafts, weaving, and more! For kids entering grades 1-6. Class limited to 20. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

RoboCode

Hands-on learning with some of the hottest technology! Using our new iPad apps and robots Dash and Dot, kids will learn to code through fun projects and puzzles. Class size limited to 18. For kids entering grades 3-6.

Coffee with a Cop

Norristown will hold the next iteration of its popular "Coffee with a Cop" event on Sunday, August 21, police announced.

The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at UCC Christ Church.
