Finance Department

The Finance Department conducts all financial transactions related to cash collections, cash disbursements, employee benefits, and employee payroll in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals. Effective controls are maintained to safeguard Municipal assets.

2021 Budget

Council adopted the 2021 budget on Nov. 17, 2020. Please view the ordinance that outlines the $36.3 million budget and sets the millage rate for the year.

Real Estate Taxes & Trash Fees

The Finance Department collects the current year Municipal and County Real Estate Taxes, trash collection and disposal fees.

2021 Real Estate Taxes

Tax bills for 2021 were mailed out in mid-February. The discount period to pay your real estate tax bill is April 15. The face value of the bill is due by June 15. A penalty will be incurred for payments made between June 16 and Dec. 31.


Payments can be made in person at the Finance Department, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by mail. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the “Municipality of Norristown. 

As of Nov. 2020, payments may now be made online! Payment may be submitted at 2.65% ($3.00 minimum) convenience fee charged to each transaction. This fee is retained by the card processing service. 

Tax Certifications

Tax Certifications are available for a fee of $35.

Duplicate Bills or Receipts

Duplicate tax bills or receipts can also be obtained for a fee of $5.
