Finance Department

The Finance Department conducts all financial transactions related to cash collections, cash disbursements, employee benefits, and employee payroll in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals. Effective controls are maintained to safeguard Municipal assets.

Temporary Extended Office Hours- April 2023

Starting April 24, 2023, the municipal Finance Department at temporary municipal offices at 1700 Markley St., Suite 104 will be open to 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Regular municipal office hours for Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will not change. This extension of business hours during the busy tax season is a component of the Municipality’s new Flex Schedule Pilot Program and will give a little extra time during the week to accommodate people who may not, otherwise, be able to make a payment during regular business hours.

2023 Budget

Council adopted the 2023 budget with a one mill tax increase on Dec. 6, 2022. Click this link to view the approximately $40.4 million budget.

Real Estate Taxes & Trash Fees

The Finance Department collects the current year Municipal and County Real Estate Taxes, trash collection and disposal fees.

2023 Real Estate Taxes

Collection of 2023 real estate taxes began in February after tax bills were mailed out. The face value of the bill is due in full by June 15. Penalties incur for payment made between June 16 and Dec. 31..

The Finance Department can no longer accept payment for 2022 real estate taxes. Questions for 2022 can be directed toward the Montgomery County Tax Claim Bureau.  

Payments

Payment of taxes/fees/permits/tickets  can be made in person at the Finance Department, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by mail. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the “Municipality of Norristown. 

Payments may now be made online! Payment may be submitted at https://taxpayments.norristown.org/.. 2.65% ($3.00 minimum) convenience fee charged to each transaction. This fee is retained by the card processing service.

Tax Certifications

Tax Certifications are available for a fee of $35. You can file a request for a certification using this form: Tax certification request.

(NOTE: Due to significant volume please submit your request at least three (3) weeks prior to closing.)

Duplicate Bills or Receipts

Duplicate tax bills or receipts can also be obtained for a fee of $5.
