Ms. Sanders is a Norristown native who was born and raised on the 500 block of East Moore Street. She is a graduate of Norristown Area High School. Ms. Sanders has an Associate degree in Business Administration and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management. She lives with her husband Charles Sanders and has two daughters and a son.
Sonya D. (Fisher) Sanders is the Policy Director and Office Manager in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. She leads a 16 person team in addition to submitting Grants and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation. Prior to working at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Sonya Sanders worked as a Technical Lead for Vanguard Financial Services.
As a resident of Norristown, Ms. Sanders is passionate about improving the youth involvement and public safety, which is one of the many reasons she ran for council. With years of hard work and community service under her belt, Sonya Sanders believes with energy, dedication, and commitment she confidence the community of Norristown will continue to thrive.
Norristown Police Athletic League (PAL)
Over the years, she has served as a volunteer coach with Norristown PAL, Plymouth Jr. ABA and the Plymouth Jr. ABA Travel All-Star Team. As a Board Member of Plymouth Jr. ABA, she currently serves as a Commissioner of the Senior League.
In the past, she spent 9 years participating in Norristown Area School District as a Junior Achievement Volunteer.
Generation Next Track Club
Ms. Sanders is co-founder of the newly developed Generation Next Track Club in Norristown.
Real Charitable Housewives
As a member of Real Charitable Housewives of Chester County SE, Ms. Sanders enjoys volunteering her time. Some of the tasks involve cleaning parks, packing military stockings and serving holiday meals. She thoroughly enjoys serving in the soup kitchen at the local churches in Norristown and assisting the elderly in various activities at Montco Senior Adult Activities Center (SAAC).
Recipient of the Citizen Award on April 25, 2015 from The Elmwood Lodge No. 438 & The Montgomery Temple No. 250.
