Tropical Storm Ida cleanup- Sept 2021

Widespread flooding in Norristown damaged many properties in town, and we are working to help everyone with their recovery.

Montgomery County has a webpage filled with information about shelters, damage assessment, and other recovery efforts. That website is https://montcopa.org/3878/Hurricane-Ida. The Hurricane Ida Crisis Cleanup Hotline is (844) 965-1386.

MUNICIPAL PERMIT FEES WAIVED: Due to the unprecedented flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Ida, the Municipality of Norristown is waiving permit (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy, fire, and demolition) fees for the repairing of any damages to buildings caused by the storm. Property owners and contractors must still apply for and obtain approvals for construction work prior to work being performed.

Fees will only be waived if a damaged property was recorded through the county's Property Damage Assessment Form (see below). More information can be found here: https://norristown.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=269

PROPERTY DAMAGE ASSESSMENT FORM
Please fill out the following damage assessment form. This information will be logged by the county to gauge need for emergency relief funds. https://veoci.com/v/p/form/b7bf7bpujcv6

UNINHABITABLE PROPERTIES

If your property was damaged to the point it was deemed uninhabitable by the municipal Codes department, certain problems must be fixed to get you back in the property. You can read that form at this link: https://norristown.org/DocumentCenter/View/4741/Uninhabitable-Letter-Final-Version-9102021.
