  1. School's Out Day Camp

    February 17, 2020, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Elmwood Park Zoo

    School’s Out Day Camp allows for children ages 6-8 and 9-13 to spend their day exploring and learning all about Elmwood Park Zoo’s animals. Each day campers will experience educational workshops, animal observations, animal meet and greets, crafts, animal trainings and more. DETAILS: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two camps are available, a 6-8 year old camp, and a 9-13 year old camp Before and after care is available; early drop off at 8 a.m ($15/child), late pick-up at 5 p.m. ($15/child) This is a recurring event occurring everyday from April 6 to April 10 (spring break for NASD schools).

  4. Civil War Training Ground at the Library

    February 22, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library

    Camp William Penn was a Union Army training camp located in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania from 1863 to 1865, notable for being the first training ground dedicated to African American troops who enlisted in the United States Army during the American Civil War. The lecture includes the story of the camps creation, how the local community interacted and stories about the units that trained at the camp and their role in the war effort. The lecture also discusses the soldier’s equipment, uniforms and personal items from the period.

    At this free open mic, we celebrate Black History and Present! from poetry, book reads, to black history facts, all artists and speakers join us with all ages appropriate content. This year’s BHM theme is “African Americans and the Vote”, according to the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Come and enjoy!
