Making History Greater Series: PHILADELPHIA NATIONAL CEMETERY Presented by Edward McLaughlin Thursday, May 16, 2019 Social 6:30 p.m.; Presentation 7:00-8:00 p.m. Free and open to the public. Over 1,000 Black Civil War Soldiers and sailors are buried in a segregated section of this cemetery. For the most part these soldiers were commonly called USCT (United States Colored Troops). Edward McLaughlin, a genealogy buff, has been working diligently to research the lives of those buried in the cemetery. He has been working to see that the cemetery and its history receive greater recognition.
