[ARCHIVED] Johnson Highway Bridge work complete!

Johnson Highway Bridge

Johnson Highway Bridge work competed ahead of schedule.

Johnson Highway Bridge

PennDOT’s contractor has rehabilitated the bridge by removing the existing superstructure and installing a new bridge deck, barrier and sidewalk; performing scour rock and stream repair; and paving bridge approaches.

Built in 1924, and reconstructed in 1966, the one-span bridge is 28 feet long and 55 feet wide. The structure carries an average of 9,096 vehicles a day.

The rehabilitation of the bridge carrying Johnson Highway over a branch of Sawmill Run Creek is part of PennDOT’s $6.8 million project to rehabilitate six poor condition bridges in Bucks and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks County, and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks County.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., was the general contractor on the project financed with 100 percent state funds through Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation plan.
