Norristown Fire Department and Police Department Win Battle of the Badges

NORRISTOWN, PA – On June 11, 2019 the 2nd Annual Battle of the Badges charity blood drive took place at the Montgomery County Human Services Center in conjunction with the American Red Cross.  The completion is based on a friendly wager that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department placed against the Norristown Police and Fire Departments to encourage more blood donors out for the event.

The Norristown Fire and Police Departments will once again hold onto the trophy and have bragging rights as the challenge winners. “I want to thank everyone for their efforts in making this event a success for the second year in a row.” Norristown Fire Chief Tom O’Donnell commented, “Though we won the competition, the real winners are the American Red Cross recipients of the donations.”

In total, fifty-four (54) donors gave sixty (60) units of life saving blood during the daylong event.  In turn the blood collected will go on to touch/save one hundred eighty (180) lives in the Philadelphia area.
