Be safe this Halloween!
Safety tips from the Norristown Police Department:
1- Bring a flashlight for when it gets dark and try your best to use sidewalks and crosswalks to avoid cars.
2- Avoid candy that has loose wrappings, is entirely unwrapped, has puncture holes, or is homemade and not factory-wrapped.
3- Walk-in groups and try to have the kids wear costumes that have reflective tape or strips sewn on for better visibility; use 'glow' sticks or bracelets/necklaces.
4- Make sure the kids can see adequately out of any mask that they may wear as part of their costume to avoid any trips and falls.
5- Put electronic devices down, and keep heads up and walk. Don’t run across the street.
6- Join kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, tell them to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups
7- Always walk on sidewalks or paths.
8- Drive extra safely on Halloween. Get rid of any distractions, slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
Wishing everyone a fun Halloween!
