Norristown Council Unveils New Playground Equipment

NORRISTOWN, PA – The Norristown Municipal Council celebrated the completion of playground equipment installed at Ackey’s Park and Scagg Cottman Park.   These park improvements represent a $126,451 investment by the Norristown Municipal Council.

Municipal park and recreation renovations, were a priority of Norristown Council’s Capital Improvement Plan, have also included improvements and renovations completed and/or currently underway at Latshaw-McCarthy Field, the Norristown Recreation Center (formerly the PAL Building) and Riverfront Park. Immediate future plans include upgrades to Bartasch and Cherry Street Parks in 2020.

Plans for this colorful state-of-the-art equipment, manufactured by Miracle Recreation, began in early spring, with installation completed in November by Lyons Recreation. The equipment is ADA Compliant as well as being certified through the National Recreation and Parks Association. The new structure replaced dated old equipment that had not been replaced in over a decade.

“Municipal Council is excited to have updated recreation amenities for our kids,” Norristown Council President Sonya Sanders stated. “Norristown has great parks, we want our children to enjoy the outdoors and these facilities for years to come.”
