Norristown Fire Department Donates Thanksgiving Dinners to 100 Families
NORRISTOWN, PA – Full Thanksgiving dinners with all the trimmings were provided to one hundred (100) Norristown families in need by the Norristown Fire Department and sponsors today. Selected families picked up their turkey dinners at the Montgomery Hose Fire Company. Special deliveries were made to a few veterans including the family of Marine Veteran Sam Jackson, who was recently killed in a hit and run accident.
This is the fifth year for the turkey drive, coordinated by Fire Chief Tom O’Donnell, after recognizing the opportunity to help the community. “The Fire Department wanted the chance to give back to the community we serve. Seeing the smiles it brings to the families, it means everything to us.” stated Fire Chief O’Donnell.
The meals included all the makings of a Thanksgiving feast like a fresh turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, yams, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and dessert. Fire safety tips were included in each package to educate families on fire prevention.
The annual drive would not be possible without the help of local businesses who donate towards the dinners; Aman’s Indian Bistro, Altieri Meats, JP Warner Associates, Dekalb Street Thriftway, ServPro, American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Signarama, US Maintenance, Randolph Insurance and Save A Lot.
