[ARCHIVED] Norristown Municipal Hall closed to visitors starting March 18

NORRISTOWN, PA – As a proactive step to further reduce the possibility of contagion between municipal staff and the public during the COVID-19 outbreak, Norristown Municipal Hall will be closed to all visitors effective March 18.

Daily municipal operations will continue as normal.

Anyone needing to come to Municipal Hall to pay a bill, drop off permit applications, handicap parking applications, or any other documentation may do so through the mail slot at the main entrance doors on East Airy Street during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These items will be collected at the end of each work day and distributed to the proper department.

Anything being dropped off that includes form of a payment should be in the form of a personal check, cashier’s check or money order in the full amount of what is owed. Cash will not be accepted. A name, address, phone number/email address should be left with payments left at Municipal Hall. The municipality can accept payments over the telephone as well.

For documents not involving payment, email or fax is another option to submit forms. A number of forms will be posted outside Municipal Hall for people who do not have online access that they can then drop in the front door mail slot.

In lieu of face-to-face meetings, the following list of telephone numbers will be posted at the Municipal Hall main entrance if anyone needs to speak with someone directly in any one of our departments.

Recreation (email only): recreation@norristown.org.

The Norristown Police Department is asking the public to call 610-270-0977 then press 0 to speak with a commanding officer. If coming to the police station entrance at the back of Municipal Hall please use the intercom at the door.

For police or fire emergencies please call 911.
