[ARCHIVED] Aggressive street cleaning in Norristown week of March 28

street sweeper

Spring cleaning is coming to Norristown streets next week.

The Public Works department will be initiating a more aggressive street cleaning program next week during regular street maintenance route schedules.

During the week, public works laborers will use blowers to blow out and rake remnants of leaves and other items on sidewalks, streets that are difficult for the sweeper to pick up before bringing in the sweepers or the vacuum trucks. This is a more involved street cleaning process than normal when only the cleaning trucks go up and down municipal streets.

As throughout the year, residents are being required to move their vehicles from the street during their regularly scheduled maintenance routes throughout the week. Norristown Police Department’s parking enforcement officers will be writing tickets for vehicles that are not moved during posted hours on each block. Parking ticket fees for non-movement of cars for street cleaning is $20.

If you are unsure of when your regular street cleaning is scheduled, you can view the cleaning list at Norristown.org/168/street-maintenance. You may also reach out to the Public Works office at 610-270-0437 with questions.
